ARTIST STATEMENT
I craft art as a meditative practice, a dialogue between my inner self and the universal energy that courses through us. My guiding phrase is follow the paint—a reminder to tune in and collaborate with whatever is flowing in the moment. Occasionally I work toward a vision I received, other times the final composition unfolds through intuitive exploration.
While I’ve made and sometimes return to landscapes, portraits, and more illustrative pieces, my style increasingly breaks free from literal representation, inviting observers to engage with their own imaginative faculties and perceive their own meanings. I am interested in the formless forms, the feelings evoked by colors and shapes that exist beyond or behind explanation. My primary medium is acrylic paint, but I also utilize charcoal, pastel, watercolor, gouache, ink, pencil, and the occasional iris dye in various combinations.
My work is intended to inspire contemplation and reward it, so that looking into a piece can feel as rich with discovery as the experience of making it. I consider each composition to be a unique collaboration between the source that inspired it, the conduit who received it, and the viewer who perceives it, so that any one piece has a multiplicity of iterations.
